Improved Error Handling and Plug-Ins in Oracle APEX 4.1
Abstract:
For a long time APEX developers have requested better control of APEX error messages. Oracle Application Express 4.1 will introduce capabilities to allow developers to customize the way error messages are displayed and overwrite the existing messages to make them more user friendly and personalized. For example, if you don't like your end users seeing the "ORA-00001 unique constraint (SCHEMA.DEPT_UNIQUE) violated" then use the customizable package and your own table to define an alternate message.
Plug-ins to extend the feature set of Oracle APEX were introduced in APEX 4.0 over a year ago. Since then, countless plug-ins have been created by the community and the Oracle development team themselves. Based on that experience, new features and enhancements have been added to APEX 4.1 to make it even easier for plug-in developers.
